Vietnam: National workshop on Country programming framework of Vietnam-FAO, 2012 – 2016

 

The workshop is being held today (15 January 2013) in Hanoi, co-chaired by the Vietnam Vice Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Prof. Dr. Bui Ba Bong, and the Representative of FAO Hanoi, Mr. Ken Shimizu.

Participants include representatives from relevant research institutions, managing and decision making agencies, private sectors and NGOs.

The draft framework developed by a consultant’s team is presented for discussions and comments.

 The proposed framework covers the following 4 main areas:
– Food security, food safety and nutrition
– Sustainable agriculture development and natural resources management
– Rural livelihood development
– Environmental protection and climate change adaptation.

Following the consultation meeting on the framework (held on 9 November 2012), this workshop is expected to provide inputs for finalization of the National framework for Vietnam-FAO cooperation during 2012 – 2016 which will serve as the orientation for development and implementation of FAO-Vietnam programs, projects and activities up to 2016.
